Review of Homunculus

Homunculus (I) (2021)
6/10
Typical Japanese Film
26 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It starts out somewhat normal and then just gets weird and never stops. I usually avoid watching Japanese flicks on Netflix because they always end up going the same strange route. This one slipped my radar and ended up getting watched by me. It's about drilling holes in ones head to see what is basically their hidden issues manifested in a physical form. It's weird mostly. This is based off a manga, anime or something like that... no surprise there.

Personally it might have been a fine show for some...I just didn't really care for the plot. I understood it but it just didn't interests me. I mean there is a scene where the main character rapes a teenage girl in order to absolve her of her burdens.... I mean yeah. That's a Japanese movie for you (and I've seen worse/weirder.) I think the last Japanese film I watched was about an all female prison where the punishment was having a lit light bulb shoved up their you know what. I've come to be prepared to except anything when I watch Japanese films.

This movie however has it's moments where it's really interesting but you have to go through 85% of them film just to get there. This is a certified 6/10 for me.
