Warning: Spoilers
I'm 43 years old and have been a Trekkie since TNG premiered. The Star Trek message has always resonated with me more than the Star Wars one. I think that is because Star Trek lives in the world of gray. I write here to see if we can look at this show objectively.

To address the comment that this show didn't approach the episode with any diplomacy, I give you the fact that the aliens were enslaved. Their ability to talk to each other was taken away and they had to mine the planetoid. You seriously want them to talk their way out? I would want to teach my children to escape when safe to do so, which is what the episode did.

The background graphics were really well done. The space scenes looked incredible. I would like it more if the characters looked a little more sharper. It looked like they were hand drawn at times.

Did the episode seem campy at moments? Sure, but no more than Teen Titans or other shows targeted at their intended audience.

I think rating a show on one episode is a really difficult ask, especially since the main story hasn't shown up yet. Showing a little patience might pay off and I fully intend to watch more just as an adult.
