Coyote Creek Christmas (2021 TV Movie)

Rehashed Theme, Done A Hundred Times Now
11 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I look forward to Hallmark Christmas movies, like so many of us do. But lately, the stories are just refurbished and rehashed from other movies over and over and over. Coyote Creek is no exception. It's not even that great on its own, but the fact that Hallmark writers can't seem to come up with anything more original than this is disappointing. Still, the movie would have been better if not for two things: Paige had absolutely no reason to be angry with Dylan! Her parents INSTRUCTED him not to tell her about selling the Inn, and it was in no way his job or position to tell her. It was up to her parents. That entire premise for the storyline and her being angry with him was so, SO frustrating! Lately, this seems to be the Hallmark theme: Boy meets girl; boy keeps a secret and girl finds out a day (or an hour) before he has a chance to tell her; girl breaks it off and says she can't trust him ever again! Sooooo stupid!! It's not like he even LIED to her- he simply didn't tell her news that wasn't HIS news to tell! Also, I have to add that, in my opinion, it's just getting silly the way that Hallmark now throws in some token gay-relationship love story into so many of their movies. It added nothing to the story and was just filler. It would be different if that relationship held any value or point to the story, but it this side story was only put into the movie so that Hallmark's conscience could be clear that they had covered all the politically-correct social bases: Interracial couple, check; Gay couple, check. I am not, by any means, a homophobe. I have many friends who are gay, as well as a niece, whom I adore. I love and respect them all dearly. My opinion, as far as this movie is concerned, has absolutely nothing to do with homophobia. I'm just getting so tired of Hallmark throwing gay relationships in on the side as a token, for no other reason than solely because it seems "politically correct".

Overall, the movie was kinda cute, but it really was just rehashed old Hallmark movies, taking place at a new Inn, with different actors.
