Like another reviewer, in the 60s I used to buy and read the various "underground comic books" like Zap, Comix, Arcade, Bijou Funnies, Wimmen's Comix, Mr. Natural, Wonder Wart-Hog and The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers. These adult-themed comics were written and drawn by legendary artists such as R. Crumb, S. Clay Wilson, Kim Deitch, Trina Robbins, Spain Rodriguez, and Gilbert Shelton (Wonder Wart-Hog and The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers were the genius creations of Gilbert Shelton).

The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers first appeared in 1968 and had a prominent role in a Austin-based underground newspaper called "The Rag." The Freak Brothers were an immediate hit, and their stoner adventures were eventually published in a comic book series of their own.

This new 2021 Tubi cartoon series mirrors their comic book exploits. It's very good but it is absolutely not for kids. Like the older underground comics, this updated animated version revolves around the purchase and habitual usage of marijuana. Fat Freddy's Cat also reprises his role in this series, and like his human hippie friends, his daily activities are focused on the procurement and enjoyment of Marijuana.

No spoilers here. This is a new series and will definitely attract counter culture baby boomers who adored these hilarious druggy characters and their misadventures. Of course, that is, if they can remember the outrageous comics that were an integral part of growing up in the 60s.
