The Walking Dead: Home (2013)
Season 3, Episode 10
8/10
Powerful and eventful episode

Rick is shows signs of psychosis and the Governor asks Andrea to lead Woodbury in his absence.

This is a strong episode that, give or take a bit of zombie action, feels like a relative slow burn of character scenes. However it hits like a sledgehammer with a quite intense and hard hitting climax.

The plot, as ever, moves the narrative on slowly, starting with Rick experiencing more hallucinations, before it movies between events at Woodbury and the adventures of Merle and Daryl. The high point for me is the latter, with both actors on good form, particularly Michael Rooker, who makes you despise and almost feel sorry for his character in the same breath.

The final act comes out of the blue and is quite a jolt to the system. For me it accomplishes two things. One it gives a consequence to Rick's state of mind and his general isolationist attitude of towards outsiders who could potentially contribute to the group. Two it really makes the audience hate one character in particular, if that wasn't the case already.

The action scenes are some of the best in the show so far, particularly the gun fight. Generally the cinematography, editing and sound are superb throughout.

All performances are first rate with lots of cast members giving plenty of emotion. Andrew Lincoln portrays a progressively worn down and tortured soul more and more with each episode. If anyone looks like they have been through a zombie apocalypse it is him.
