It's just bad writing. Sold like it was some kind of modern Christmas story. Nothing like Elf. It's boring...so so boring. Decent enough little actors, but man the writing is...bad. Lol idk how else to put it. It's not a good movie. It tries to be nostalgic, but like the only thing nostalgic about it is the Nintendo? They keep saying "it was the 80's!" But there was otherwise nothing much to indicate that it's the 80's. Like "chores" are vaguely a thing of the 80's? As if they don't exist anymore? Wtf?
Dads were stoic. Everyone smoked cigarettes. Nobody listened to kids.
