The Walking Dead: Slabtown (2014)
Season 5, Episode 4
8/10
Refreshing change of scenery

We find out Beth's situation since she disappeared.

This is a solid episode with a fairly intriguing premise that expands the overarching narrative.

The best aspect is that it shows another perspective of the zombie apocalypse from a group of characters in a different environment. It's a bit early to tell how good it's going to be but I found it relatively compelling.

Some characters are better than others. Dawn seems a relatively plausible leader considering the situation and the doctor is also quite well written. These are characters clearly depicted to be doing what it takes to survive and maintain control of their destinies. Gorman is a pure one-note baddie and you can predict what he is going to say and do in virtually every scene.

Emily Kinney and Christine Woods give strong performances, particularly in their exchanges together.

Some of the art design is superbly macabre, especially what we see at the bottom of the elevator shaft.

For me it's a 7.5/10 but I round upwards.
