A committed installment of pure grime
28 December 2021
Well, I'm not going to tell anyone they should go watch this, but it has it's strengths. Movies don't get much gnarlier than this.

Disturbing sexual content: high. Disturbing violent content: high. Disturbingly unfortunate looking cast: high.

I could be wrong but I got the strange feeling that a lot more Germans might view this like a comedy? Could be wrong, but, my friend and I certainly did not see it as a comedy. We were, however, impressed by it's commitment to remain as unhinged as it was. Lead actor Jonas Dassler is terrifying in presence and even more terrifying to look at, thanks to some very convincing prosthetic makeup work.

Though the movie is a bit of a meanderer and doesn't have much of a linear plot, it's never dull and it has it's share of memorable sequences - the most memorable parts being all the casual nights at the down-and-dirty bar (a real "ghoul gallery" full of strong personalities), a victim turned domestic partner for a very brief period of time, and, the part when psycho Fritz decides to get a new job.

This one will probably hit properly for fans of movies like Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Maniac, or I Stand Alone. But if you're not looking for the utmost grime, I would steer clear of this German nightmare.
