Tonnes of fun solo, too many bugs in coop
16 January 2022
Solo on PS5: The first couple of missions and it seems like a pretty bog-standard top-down shooter. But unlock a few abilities, and it turns out it's absolutely amazing. One of the most fun coop games in quite a while, and particularly enjoyable to have something that's not just another 3D FPS.

The city is massive and the designs elaborate. Tonnes of exploring, some uniquely different missions, gear and clothes and abilities to unlock, and a story that's gradually unravelling in the usual cool cyberpunk ways.

In a full solo play through it crashed on me only once. (It crashed after completing a boss and the follow up story at about halfway through the game. On reload and beating the boss again, it didn't crash a second time).

Coop on Xbox Series X/S: Game completely bugged out at around the end of the second main story mission in online coop. Tried many ways around it, but always ended up with the game effectively frozen right at the end of a story sequence. No way to progress.

There were many other bugs in coop, too, including the following and more:

* Crashing sometimes for guest player on multiplayer load up.

* Crashing for both players most of the time a guest player tries to buy an augmentation or tactical mod, or when the host player tries to buy a gun upgrade.

* Half of one players HUD display vanishing at arbitrary times, leaving that person guessing what their life total is at, whether their tactical and augmentation abilities are ready for use, etc.

* One player suddenly starts doing only about 10% of normal damage to the enemies, for about 5min.

* Various sound glitches, with the most common one being the re-load sound getting stuck on, so it sounds like a bit like a helicopter and continues for ages, only stopping temporarily when that player is in a menu.
