Dracula is considering retirement and leaving the hotel to his daughter Mavis. To his dismay, that also means that Jonathan would be taking over. Drac tells Jonathan that he couldn't leave the hotel to a non-monster. Jonathan goes to Van Helsing to change him into a monster.
This is a fun family animated film. I really like the family aspect of this franchise. There seems to some fatigue from critics. This is not trying to be ground-breaking or surprising. This is simple and safe. It has a bit of humor and some gentle life lessons. It is basic good family animated fun.
