I'd give this 10/10 as a stage production, but it is clearly a filmed record of an outstanding production. No attempt was made to open up the play by use of location shots, and I don't think any of that was needed. For example, the costuming here seemed to be late 19th Century, but there was no attempt to tie in the daily life, politics or events of that time. Shakespeare's lily hardly is in need of gild, or anything else that would probably distract from the words and story. The cast was uniformly excellent, and if there were any cuts, they were not evident. I was totally engrossed, and any student of Shakespeare or the theater would benefit from watching this film.
