Daimajin (1966)
5/10
This gets pretty good when you know what direction it's heading to.

Yes, there is a giant here, not quite a monster, closer to something that you would see in a Ray Harryhausen film rather than the type that Toho films put out the Godzilla movies. I'm not much of a fan of Japanese Samurai movies, but you can't help the D interested and how the story will turn out as the details unfold surrounding a good leader who is murdered, and evils towards the local people that occur under the new war lord who doesn't believe in the curses that he will face if he bothers the mountain God.

There's a majestic waterfall in the canyon, and at the top of one of the mountains, there is the statue of the god that is defiled, causing it to drip blood and all of then sudden come to life. That takes place about an hour into this film (which runs at under 90 minutes), where a sudden earthquake swallows up the men who have the file that, leading to the statue changing its image and marching to where the evil warlord is torturing two men on crosses. Watching this slow-moving stone statue making its way to the villain it's thrilling because the viewer can't wait to see how he is punished. It's there that the film really begins to become magical, leading to an exciting conclusion.
