Chico and the Man (1974–1978)

Great Comedy Series!

This came out in my pre-teen years and was an after school watch for me, along with Sanford and Son. It followed the same routine. Grumpy old man along with a head full of dreams young guy. Chico was a shop mechanic while Sanford and Son was about a Junk Yard/Junk Shop. But they were pretty similar other than that. The grumpy old men both had hearts of gold. I just re-found this one on one of the classics channels and it's refreshing in todays day and age. I looked for a DVD set of this and was only able to find a high-priced 6 episode disc. So it's disheartening that a show this good was never released in its entirety. Especially when so many junk shows have been. Hopefully in the future! Until then, I would highly recommend this one for anyone who can find it! It's a show about love in a world where love seems to be in short supply. Not a romantic love, of course. But the type of love shared between great friends as they grow to respect each other! Oh, and we also have the regular appearances by Scatman Crothers (the garbage man). How is this NOT available commercially?
