This is a wild movie, but it didn't really get weird until his dead mother gave him a magical dove that grants wishes from Heaven. It is very creative, different, and fun. It deserves praise for pure inventiveness. It also is filled with such an optimistic attitude throughout.
I don't think, however, that it carries the message that Vittorio de Sica intended. Instead of the message that all people are equal, I believe the message portrayed is that even with a magical wishing dove, people will still fail to do what is truly in their best interest.
Brunella Bova is as sweet as can be and is a pleasure to watch on the screen.
