As far as unnecessary sequels go, Fisherman's Friends: One and All offers another extremely solid dose of heartwarming comedy drama even if it could've leant into the more dramatic moments and ditched the out of place rescue set piece.
James Purefoy is great as the emotional core of the film, exploring his character's highs and lows with an always watchable presence. The rest of the cast are all fine with Dave Johns being the strongest, his increased screen time this time around is much appreciated.
Meg Leonard and Nick Moorcroft's direction is good, the film is competently shot overall and has a warmth to it but there is definitely an over reliance on ugly looking archive footage. The selection of shantys is really good, always welcome and well implemented.
