So slow paced and boring you might fall asleep...
28 August 2022
When I sat down to watch the 1997 romantic drama "La Femme De Chambre Du Titanic" (aka "The Chambermaid on the Titanic"), it was solely because this movie had Titanic as a focal point.

Sure, I had never heard about this movie from writers Cuca Canals, Jean-Louis Benoît and Bigas Luna prior to sitting down to watch it here in 2022. So I didn't know what to expect, nor had I any idea what I was in for here.

Director Bigas Luna didn't exactly manage to deliver a movie that really appealed to me. The narrative in the movie was simply too simplistic and uneventful. And while the Titanic was in the story, the movie just didn't revolve too much around that majestic ship. This movie was just simply too slow paced and uneventful for my liking. So the movie fell short of appealing to me.

I was initially thrilled to see Olivier Martinez on the cast list, but just watching him sit around a bar, drinking and telling tall tales just didn't count as being proper entertainment for me.

This movie was a swing and a miss. And it is not a movie that I will ever be returning to watch a second time. Nor is it a movie that I would recommend for people with an interest in the Titanic.

My rating of "La Femme De Chambre Du Titanic" lands on a two out of ten stars.
