Review of Fearless

Fearless (2020)
3/10
Uninspired and mediocre

Fe@rless_ falls flat. It seems like all the characters were copied and pasted from various archetypes, with minimal to no thought. The animation of this film is abominable, but not in a "my animation program's settings weren't very satisfactory" way. More like the visual technique, their modus operand-is simply subpar. This film seems to mix cartoonish visuals with photorealistic elements, particularly on human figures. Most of the character's hair looks okay, until they start walking or running and it just freezes like it's a part of a statue. Other than that, the visuals are okay, and can be charming at times. But the real cherry on top to this dumpster fire is the not exactly fantastic premise. The whole movie is based on these babies that come from a video game fall from the sky and the protagonists have to take care of (but in reality neglect) them. It is confusing because it really not explained very well whether the characters, were always in a video game, or were they always real, in some way. Some of the characters that came from the video game even make remarks that would imply that they know they are in a video game! On top of this, we see the babies falling in the video game. How would whoever made this game do it? Drones? Magic? I don't know, and it isn't well explained.

The film seems like a parody of modern 3d kids movies, the type of stuff Dreamworks or Sony makes. Trendy (and annoying) pop music, generic characters, corny overdone message, etc. Fe@rless_ isn't that bad. But you shouldn't use this movie as anything other than a quick diversion for the kids, while you do more important tasks.
