Warning: Spoilers
Those words have obviously haunted Korean War sergeant Lee Marvin who is on trial for being a traitor with the threat of hanging pounding through his brain, and desperate to survive by proving his innocence when no such evidence exists. This complex war drama (originally a two-part TV anthology show episode) highlights the recent success of Marvin with "Cat Ballou", showing his versatility as his character here is soft spoken and principled.

The small cast includes Vera Miles as his wife (who may or may not still be in love with him, she's not sure), Peter Graves, Norman fell, Bradford Dillman Lloyd Nolan and Murray Hamilton. It's a non-action based war drama, more of a court drama, so it's much more talky than most films of this nature, set bound and never showing anything physically that happened in Korea. The only witness in Marvin's defense happens to be dead, and the fact that he had previous associations with enemies of the state also works against him. Good acting, pretty direct script, and quite intense as the audience will most likely root for Marvin.
