Having loved the four LETHAL WEAPON movies I knew that there was this spoof, but I avoided it for years because I thought it would have been like SILENCE OF THE HAMS or the various entries in the Bottom 100 such as DISASTER MOVIE, ANGRY GAMES and the like. However, being some sort of masochist, few months ago I finally saw it and I thought that my fears were true, but partially.
Despite the title is LOADED WEAPON 1, this is not only a parody of the LETHAL WEAPON franchise but of many other movies of those years such as BASIC INSTINCT, DIE HARD (with even a cameo from Bruce Willis) and RAMBO 2 - THE REVENGE, so the title is already confusing.
Jack Colt and Wes Luger (Emilio Estevez and Samuel L Jackson) are a white and black policeman that are paired for resolving the case of their old colleague Billy York, and they will find out that there is an incredible conspiracy behind it.
Apart from what I wrote above, the movie hasn't really a plot to be talked about. It's mostly a lightning fast parody of various movies where sometimes the jokes are funny, sometimes they fail. Yet there is a huge difference between this and DISASTER MOVIE: a few of the jokes in this made me chuckle, but it never happened with the other. So, as it doesn't completely stink, I give it a well earned 4 and I can see why it has a respectable score of 6,3.
