Review of Snoops

Snoops (1999)
5/10
David E.Kelley's « spy » series.

The show was everything we love of the creator. A nice mix of comedy, drama, mystery and action. A very aesthetically early 2000s show, in which young independent women, fought crime and solved cases for their clients, with the help of alpha males, they were more or less involved with. It was yet another series targeted to the female demographic, but others could find some appeal to it. The LA setting was fresh and different from Kelley's « current » shows windy cities. The leads were great, and watching the few episodes the show got got, could very much picture it getting crossover episodes with both Ally McBeal and The Practice. Unfortunately it was canceled far too soon, never to be mentioned again. And the series finale which ended breaking the fourth wall, never even aired on TV either. Rewatching Snoops now made me realize another thing... How very similar to Shondaland series it was. So, why did ABC rejected this (the ratings weren't so bad, and it had a solid fan base even) in favor of Rhimes copycats a decade later??...
