Smoke and Mirrors
10 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
What the viewer will probably remember is the movie's crooked storylines. It's as twisty as it gets. Perhaps what the character Dr. Garcia del Olmo says sums up the movie's central point: the truth is whatever you make it.

One reviewer commented that the viewer might feel betrayed or cheated in the end. This could be true because the viewer might think that he has figured out what's happening only to be handed another surprise in the end. It's smoke and mirrors.

It might be the movie's greatest appeal and the director's greatest feat: to leave the viewer dumbfounded. To be sure, it's well-executed, pacing is all right, the cast is quite capable, cinematography is great and set design is praiseworthy. Incidentally, it shines a light, almost as an aside, on the care and treatment of psychiatric patients.

Watch this film but be prepared to be flabbergasted.
