A vacation
28 December 2022
Leisurely paced entry in the "Thin Man" series is about Nick and Nora taking a vacation (eventful, of course) in Nick's hometown, and the film itself at times feels like a vacation for the cast and crew; the change of scenery is refreshing but it takes more than a third of the running time for the real plot to kick in, and even when it does it is notably less impressive / ingenious than in previous entries. Gloria DeHaven does have a couple of hilarious scenes as a young girl with a flair for the dramatic; Myrna Loy laying out "the rules" for William Powell's customary climactic reveal is a nice touch, too. **1/2 out of 4.
