This is another action drama with the paramilitary vibe that seems to appeal to all of the CODers out there. But the main characters fall flat, it's hard to like any of them. The supporting cast, particularly the Spanish language actors, really steal the show. They're great, and make the rest of the story tolerable. And the scenery is incredible, props to the crew for actually filming in Colombia.
***Spoilers below*** At the end, though, it's a Rambo-style shoot-em-up where the heroes have to mow down hordes of anonymous soldiers of all nationalities to save the wife and escape by the salt and pepper hairs of their chins. If you're into that kind of thing, this may be your kind of thing.
Not sure if it follows the book it's based on, but it's not a great advert for the book.
