the Goonies' city never says die
16 January 2023
While watching the opening credits, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the cinematographer was Caleb Heymann, whom I knew growing up. But that was only a taste of the pleasure that was "The Mortuary Collection". Not a masterpiece but enjoyable nonetheless, this anthology flick manages to address things like gender relations of decades past. And on top of everything, the movie got filmed in Astoria, Oregon!

The main strength is Clancy Brown's eerie performance as the eccentric mortician telling an applicant the macabre tales. I only learned of Shudder in the last year or two, but I've liked every production that I've seen from it (aside from this one, it's given us "Scare Package" and "Vicious Fun").

So, if you're in the mood for some fun horror, this should be an enjoyable outing.
