The kills were brutal, the stakes felt higher, and the new, beaten-up Ghostface mask seemed scarier. However, much like Scream 5, Scream 6 had so much potential that was ruined by a lame Ghostface reveal.
If you've seen Scream 2, you've seen Scream 6. Final battle in a theatre? No way. Ghostface is the parent of the previous film's Ghostface? Shocking. Core character stabbed repeatedly, presumed dead, & revealed alive on a stretcher by someone yelling something along the lines of "we got a live one!"? Revolutionary. At least Scream 2 had the audacity to kill one of the main four that survived the previous film.
Neve's absence was deeply felt. It's not a Scream movie without Sidney Prescott. Gale felt severely out of place without Dewey or Sidney by her side and her storyline felt forced. Kirby should have been utilized more. Truly a waste of Hayden, Samara, & Dermot's talents.
