A must-see universal story
30 March 2023
Probably together with The Book of Milutin, the best anti-war drama of the Serbian cultural heritage. It shows the tragic destiny of many Serbian generations, who were mercilessly killed for the ideals completely vanished a centruy after. Sinisa Kovacevic is an excellent screenplay writer, but also has this tiny sense to recognize patterns in human nature. Unlike his fellowman with the same surname, Dusan, who is a master of irony and subtle critic, Sinisa smashes you in the face with crude reality and criticises the society from a historical perspective. I cried every time I watched this movie, which can be applied to the seamlessness of war anywhere. The music is spectacular.
