We all know about those enchanting dance and musical movies of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, and we love them. But we know that all those were fiction and were made only for entertainment. Well, here's a story that's beyond entertainment, rom-coms, dance, and music. The duo of Vernon and Irene Castles is credited with sensationalising modern dance in the pre-World War I era. It's fascinating to know their story and see two legendary dancers portraying their roles. The iconic real-life dancing duo gets an on-screen portrayal by the best real-life dance icons of all time; how often do we see that? God has some plans that just can't go wrong. Who else would I have imagined playing Vernor and Irene Castle? No one but Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. Thank you so much, RKO Radio Pictures and HC Potter, for the legendary casting coup. The film shows the struggle of Vernon and Irene before they become global sensations. Almost two thirds of the film is their early story. Then we see their rise to stardom with quick snaps, and before we can enjoy and celebrate it, World War I strikes and Vernon joins the Royal Flying Corps. It's a beautiful story, but you like it more for being a true one. You see, fictional tales can make you happy for a while, but true stories leave everlasting impacts. Astaire and Rogers have more popular movies and some better flicks too, but none of them have nostalgia like this. The entire fashion storm segment was full of nostalgic moments. Rogers never had any such iconic moments in her entire filmography. It may be predictable for those who already know the story, but those who don't should be in for some fascination. Let's meet the people who showed us those two steps and made us Shake a leg with our partner.
