Who is spearing the great athletes of America?
23 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A comical 80's horror film (impacting, not slashing) that seems to enjoy tantizing the viewer with scantily clad topless bodies (and backside lower shots) of both genders, with several heated scenes in both the male and female locker rooms as well as a few sex scenes and even a skinny dipping pool scene. The cast of young actors (including the popular Michael O'Leary of "Guiding Light") are surprisingly good, with future Oscar nominee Sally Kirkland top billed as a former athlete who works as a college nurse attending the competition with the school's top athletes.

The twist at the end may be rather eye raising in modern viewpoints, and while I did get my suspicions correct of the guilty party, I could never have seen the motivation for the series of comical impailing scenes that leads to a nail biting conclusion. That surprise does raise this a notch up from the usual variety of 80's horror that is often far too grizzly and less character developed, so this is surprisingly better written than most. O'Leary has a bedroom scene where he is barely covered in a way that leaves little to the imagination, especially in the shower where the camera is surprisingly low for such a moment that just a fraction more might have revealed the full monty.
