Padre Pio (II) (2022)
4/10
Disappointed.

Warning: Spoilers
You probably know Padre PIO for his miracles, his stigmata or maybe because of the thousands of people that were there to see him in person, and get the absolution from him. Or his sense of humor.

That might be one of the biggest problems with this movie. The real story is too recent, and there are tapes and many recordings of this Saint. Yet, the movie is focused on the early years of monastic life, and horrors of war. It's about politics of the time and historic data, that i couldn't care less.

Put a Hollywood version, mold the characters to be entertaining, even if they were real people... or make a dark documentary well acted, but boring AF, Which would you choose?. Well, that's how I compare this to The Pope's Exorcist. Russell Crowe, got Padre PIO perfectly (although it wasn't supposed to be him) but at least was more inspiring, that this bland snoozer.

It's boring, long, dark and political... If that's your cup of tea, you'll enjoy it.
