People believe in witches in this time so he had a "witch" do a spell on the horse and made it public so the poor ppl can see her do the spell. The horse wins, then more ppl will start betting on the horse. This was the first win. But the more the horse wins the more people will bet. NOW by the third time when he has basically all of Birmingham betting on this "magical horse" he will have the horse LOSE. Once the horse lose all the ppl of Birmingham who betted on the horse which will be prolly a shiiiii ton of people. Will have to pay the Shelby's or will be in their debt. Which is the main family in the series. The business the Shelby's own "illegally" is a betting shop. Which means to even bet they gotta go through the betting shop that the Shelby's own. Long story short, the Shelby's would get mad bread from everyone in Birmingham if this goes correctly. This show is so good, once you get to know the characters you will be hooked. The story and plots are so well written. Not many shows are set between ww1 and ww2 and especially not in Birmingham UK which is where i am from. Hope you keep reacting to it.
