Review of Spy/Master

Spy/Master (2023)
5/10
Great but implausible

Brilliantly made series but, having finished watching the episode 5, I just cannot bring myself to believe that maniac Chaushesku would let traitor's wife and daughter enjoy house arrest instead of slowly torturing them in some blood stainer prison cell.

Until 40 years of age I lived in the USSR and am totally aware of what's it like to live in the oppressive regime. However, comparing the Soviet and Chaushesku regimes in the 70's would be absolutely incorrect.

I would rather draw a parallel between Stalin and Chaushesku. Both were merciless and ruthless sadists. One more thing: I cannot help but laugh watching how the KGB (or what it was called in Romania) functionaires address a relative of the 'traitor's as 'comrade'. 'Citizen' only. Needless to remind that in the USSR the children of 'traitors' even under 10 years of age were put into sort of concentration camps and officially referred to as the 'relatives of the people's enemies'.
