This is one of those nice episodes of 'Doctor Who' where the plot goes on in the background but the focus is more on fun and the interaction between the characters. The show can do this very well, and it helps when you have a Doctor (Matt Smith here) who can carry it off with aplomb.
This seventh series so far seems to be about gimmicks in order to find stories. Last time it was the idea of the Dalek's needing the Doctor's help and the iconic image of him carrying Amy, and this week it was the idea of having dinosaurs on a spaceship.
This one works better though, and it's always fun to see this Doctor having fun.
The underlying pathos with Amy wondering whether he was fazing them out was nice though.
Why oh why couldn't Chris Chibnall write like this when he was in charge years later, rather than send the show into an abyss.
