Yes, this line comes out of the mouth of German army officer Brad Davis who is secretly in cahoots with Ian Richardson to assassinate the fuhrer, along with others who know that the war cannot be won and hope to save Germany in the process from allied control. This true story has been filmed several times, most notably as "Valkarie" (starring Tom Cruise in Davis's part), and it gives a unique perspective on idealistic Germans in
positions of authority disgusted by the evils they saw in Hitler's regime.
With Madolyn Smith as Davis's neglected wife who suspects what he's up to, this is one of the unsung films on the German side of the war, interesting because it splits the Germans into two factors and makes the viewer wonder the percentage of Germans and their allies who were against the atrocities of their fatherland yet unable to speak out. Davis, taken too soon, gives one of his greatest performances, and Richardson is outstanding as well. Different enough from "Valkarie" to give a another perspective, so highly recommended.
