I don't know how fine the line is between "quietly beautiful" and "inert" is, but this movie raises the question. Neither of the characters is terribly appealing, and the action is so slim that it would be hard to write a spoiler if you wanted to. OTOH, the movie does invoke the loneliness of urban life well. It does consistently hold your attention, but I can't say it's affecting. I doubt it's memorable, but who knows? Sometimes such movies stick in the mind when others with more meat disappear from memory. It is certainly worth watching if you're a sucker like I am for art house films set in faraway places with an air of displacement.
