I have never seen a bad Audie Murphy ( Mike) until now. Trunk To Cairo which I just saw on ok.tu is simply put a bad movie, and Audie's worst. What is the worst part? The music throughout the movie is perhaps the most awful and irritating I ever heard in a film. You can actually deduct 2 stars for that alone. One thing that is interesting is who produced it Menahem Golan. Who is he? One of the founders along with Globus of Cannon Pictures. Now Cannon did a bunch of bad movies, but I never saw any that were as bad as this one. Here Murphy plays a spy who has to stop former Nazi scientist George Sanders from blackmailing the world with a nuclear weapon. At the same time romancing and actually getting engaged to his daughter Helga ( Marianna Koch). Spoilers ahead: Does Murphy succeed? Of course he even gets Sanders to defect, so his soon to be bride will not hate him. Finally Murphy ( baby face and all) looks as much as a spy as Sean Connery was a cowboy in Shalako ( at least that film had Brigette Bardot as a distraction). There is one positive: It was shot on location in Rome and the Middle East instead of a soundstage. For that I give it a generous 2/10 stars. Again Audie's worst.
