There are some movies that have great characters, great scenes, but just don't come together in the end. This is one of those moments movies. It's a shame because Jim Gaffigan did a great job in a dramatic role, and his daughter in it commands the screen whenever she's on it. But at the end you realize he is actually an old man, and his mind is scrambled from dementia. So his "daughter" is actually his wife as a teenager, and her boyfriend is actually him as a young man. The son never existed because he was stillborn. The famous astronaut who stole his show is actually his strict disciplinarian dad. It's just all too weird. And does he still wear girl's underwear?
