The four-legged miracle worker.

Warning: Spoilers
This touching entry in the "Ruaty" series deals with Rusty'a devoted owner, Ted Donaldson, befriending a young blind girl (Sharyn Moffett) who tries out a dog for the blind and becomes too scared in public to get used to her assigned dog. Donaldson thinks that the bond between Moffett and Rusty is stronger than with the trained dog (who in all fairness tries desperately to get Moffett to like them), and it will take all sorts of patience for Moffett to feel secure with any assistance animal.

The scene with Moffett and the temporary guide dog is one of the most important social issue scenes in movies as it does show how the dog does help unbeknownst to Moffett who can't see the open manhole the dog walks around and its reaction when Moffett looses control and begins to run in panic away from him into the middle of the street. John Litel, Ann Doran and Peggy Converse are great in support aiding the very talented and sadly forgotten Moffett through a very trying situation. Definitely a brilliant entry in the good short lived series, and an important one in dramatizing the issues of the sight impaired.
