I was really fooled by the poster on MAX's series' carousel. Only about an entire episode in did I finally go to IMDB to figure out it was NOT Paul Giamatti on that poster, it was someone different. Not only that, the original poster from Spain has the "Not-Paul Giamatti" character's full beard. So quite literally someone at HBO said, wow, this guy looks like Paul Giamatti, I'll tell you what we'll do, we'll shave off the beard, smudge the face a little in the jowls, and we'll get X amount more hits to the series by sheer accident, and maybe X% of those people will stick around and watch the series despite the slight of hand. Well, not only was I distraught that it wasn't Paul Giamatti, but, it was in a different language. And, this is basically the plot to a little known cult classic "Warlock: Armageddon" where the son of satan (or satan's top witch, I forget) needs to collect runestones which were scattered into the four winds by druids a thousand years earlier, and if he can get them all together by the next lunar eclipse, Satan can be reborn, and now the Warlock, reborn himself through a really terrible birth scene, needs to go around the world killing people in all sorts of creative ways to get the stones back, usually tricking the person like a Genie would. Long story short, its a remake of Warlock Armageddon, strike one, and they fooled me into photoshopping the star to look like our beloved Paul Giamatti. Strike Two. Do better HBO, you're above this.
