Appointment in Santa Fe

Marshal Andy Morrison was a prisoner in Andersonville during the civil war. One of the prison guards was brutal to him. It left him with scars on his back from the whipping.

That guard was Clyde Santee (John Anderson) and he has come to town. He is looking for an escaped prisoner. No one escapes from Santee's prison and remains at large.

His presence brings bad memories for Marshal Morrison, he hates Santee. When Sam Buckhart tells the Marshal that the escaped prisoner is called Joe Baker. The Marshal is in a quandary.

Both men were in the same camp, both loathed Santee and vowed to get even with him one day.

It is interesting how Hooverville prison rears its head in many westerns. Santee is a dubious unlikeable guy with a conscience. It is a very wild melodramatic story.
