Bad Cat (2016)

Bad Cat offers something different but falls short of being a gem

I recently watched the Turkish animated film Bad Cat (2016) on Tubi. The story revolves around a foul-mouthed cat having a challenging day-encountering his estranged son, dealing with his owner's eviction, facing a new love interest in trouble, and stumbling upon a murder. Can the day get any worse?

Co-directed by Mehmet Kurtulus and Ayse Ünal in their directorial debuts, the film features voices like Don Battee (The Matrix: Reloaded), Robert Paulsen (Pinky and the Brain), Kate Micucci (Duck Tales), and Paul David-Goddard (The Sculptor).

There are aspects I enjoyed, such as the engaging dialogue, fun character interactions, and entertaining fight scenes. However, the excessive cursing in the dialogue feels at times overdone. The storyline, with its multiple layers, works better in some instances than others, and certain scenes feel a bit overwhelming. The conclusion is predictable and straightforward.

In conclusion, Bad Cat offers something different but falls short of being a gem. I would give it a 5-5.5/10 and recommend watching it once.
