The continuation of the passion
6 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This movie, about four young people who are caught in a tug-o-war of evil between an Imperial Wizard and a corrupt General, is a good sequel to A Chinese Ghost Story (1987)!

A fun continuation with the same level of passion, at least of what it feels like. I think the first movie is slightly better, though, because this movie is not as funny and I expected a bit more martial moments, but at least it brings something fresh like additional characters and a couple of returning characters, which is a nice touch. The humor, sceneries, practical effects, choreography, and close-up shots hold up like the predecessor and are the main reasons for the good entertainment.

A fun sequel, and despite that this movie doesn't deliver the same level of humor and action as the original, it offers fresh characters and visuals, making it still enjoyable much because of its familiar faces and the charming effects.
