Great idea with a subpar execution and terrible acting
12 February 2024
The core idea of this movie is really good, and it managed to work quite well around that idea. However, the execution could have been much better. There were two main reasons for its failure. Firstly, found footage movies shouldn't show too much. The entire premise is that more should happen off-camera than on. The sound direction and camera shakiness should compensate for this. In this movie, however, things were a bit too visible. Secondly, the acting of all the actors, except for the exorcist, was terrible. It wasn't realistic at all, and their strategy seemed to be just screaming at the top of their lungs to compensate. That was the final nail in the coffin. Otherwise, the plot itself was brilliantly written, with a light mood at the start, a switch to a darker mood, uneasiness creeping in, some discrepancies being caught on camera gradually escalating and leading to the finale. Overall, it's a good watch.
