Quick musketeer fun with Gerard Barray and Mylene Demongeot

This French-Italian film by Bernard Borderie shows the well-known story of Alexandre Dumas in the original locations in France. Beautiful shots from the Bois de Boulogne and the small town of Semur-en-Auxois. The excellent fighting and fencing scenes are mainly due to the main actor Gerard Barray (1931-2024), who rightly placed himself in the front row of French film heroes.

The beautiful Mylene Demongeot, who was also used a few years later in the Fantomas films with Jean Marais and Louis de Funes, shines as Lady de Winter. The actress, who was born in 1935, talks about this in the worthwhile documentary "Fantomas vs. Louis de Funes".

With this opulent film adaptation in two parts, the production company around director Bernard Borderie was able to practice for the upcoming "Angelique" film series, which should be even more successful.
