Super Hybrid (2010)
5/10
So dumb it was fun to watch...
5 March 2024
Of course I had never heard about the 2010 movie titled "Super Hybrid" prior to stumbling upon it here in 2024. And with it being a movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to take the time to sit down and watch it. However, I've never been overly fond of movies with killer cars, so I wasn't exactly harboring the biggest of expectations from writer Neal Marshall Stevens and director Eric Valette.

The storyline from Neal Marshall Stevens was pretty far out there. I mean, an alien killer car. Yeah, it was as silly and stupid as it sounds. Yet, there is something oddly entertaining about the cheese-factor of the movie, I would say. So it wasn't exactly a swing and a miss of a movie.

One would think that all people would have to do was to get up above ground level, or simply go stand on the stairs between the levels of the building, and they would be safe from a car, which is confined by its size and laws of physics. But I suppose realism wasn't in the drivers seat here, I mean, this was a movie about a killer alien car after all. Duh! And someone working for the police district at the garage breaking laws and welding shut emergency exits in order to discourage break-ins? Come on, that was seriously some of the most stupid writing I have stumbled upon in a long time.

The script is just downright laughable, but it was actually so dumb that it became fun to watch.

Of the entire cast ensemble, I was only familiar with actor Oded Fehr. It should be said, however, that the acting performances by the actors and actresses on the cast list were actually fairly good, despite the laughable script and storyline of the movie.

The effects in "Super Hybrid" were actually fairly good.

My rating of director Eric Valette's 2010 movie "Super Hybrid" lands on a five out of ten stars.
