The film opens with school teacher Mrs. C (Regina King) being elected to congress. It gives us a few quips and on to the presidential race of 1972 which is the bilk of the film. It tries to make a success out of a failed campaign. It shows internal struggles. He husband stood by her up until the divorce. It shows us current Representative Barbara Lee as a volunteer campaign staffer and single mother. It does not dwell on any success Shirley had as a congresswoman.
The film was poorly down. Why does everyone in the production have a Jamaican accent? It was very annoying. I also remember Shirley Chisholm as having a mouth full of zoobies.
