aging star in sword fighting action flick

This is also known as The Dark Avenger. Edward Prince of Wales (Errol Flynn) is the son and heir to King Edward III. He is called the Black Prince. After years of fighting, there is a peace treaty between England and France. The Prince takes control of the French province of Aquitaine. He is opposed by local lords led by Comte de Ville (Peter Finch). They kidnap Lady Joan Holland (Joanne Dru).

The history is rather one-sided although this is a British film. Even on the surface, this seems like spin. A check on Aquitaine shows that it's the southern part of the Atlantic coast of France next to Spain. I don't see much claim for the English other than a need to squeeze the French out of the Atlantic Ocean. The English are nothing more than temporary occupiers. Otherwise, this is functional medieval fare with an aging Hollywood star during his European days. There is some good action although he may be a bit slower.
