Intermezzo (1939)
7/10
two Hollywood legends

Holger Brandt (Leslie Howard) is a celebrated globetrotting concert violinist popular with the ladies. He goes home to his wife and children in Sweden. He falls for his daughter's piano teacher Anita Hoffman (Ingrid Bergman) and they have an affair.

This is the earliest that I've seen Ingrid Bergman so far. She is a little skinnier in her early 20's. Her glowing stardom is obvious at any age. I don't know if I knew that she played the piano but I am not surprised. Leslie is at his peak with his other movie that year. On the other hand, she is a shooting star that will eclipse everyone. The cheating is not the most appealing story, but no one can argue against these two mega stars colliding together. It does make it less romantic and hits close to some homes. She is the younger woman breaking up a happy family. It's hard to root for that.
