Warning: Spoilers
I do not have the previous seasons in my viewing experience. This review is based upon the early part of 2024 season. Here is what I think- this is Seinfeld except it is not. The title of this story would be George. David is obviously playing George Costanza, at least this season.

He appears to be going around and doing crazy things and for some reason that is working out for him, somewhat. Like George he is screwing things up too. Larry is not reaching for being any intellect, he is just bumping along doing things, like George.

Meanwhile, Ted Danson is doing a part time version of the Seinfeld character. He is going around critical of everything David does, and being the man trying to even out his behavior. So far those are the main characters that are like Seinfeld. There is no Elaine, no Newman, and no Kramer that I have seen yet.

There are a lot of great reviews here of this getting an 8.8 rating. While the scripts are pretty sharp, no they do not rise to the level of the classic sitcom, at least in 2024. That is because the classic if it were done now would be different. Curb Your Enthusiasm is different for today's times, but not quite the blockbuster level of the older sitcom.

I like it okay, but this alone would not get me to subscribe to a pay service for it. Maybe NBC should try an experiment and put it on Thursdays in the old time slot and see how it does, cleaned up. The good thing is this David series can get more adult because it is on pay cable. The bad news it there is a shortage of mature adults around who would understand it if NBC did put it on prime time. The world just has spun in a different way now.
