Calabria, 1920. In an ancient noble house, the mistress, an adult woman, has just given birth. The however, the baby was born dead. One of her servants, however, is only eighteen years old and a baby to breastfeed, no husband to help her and poverty to complete the painting. This double situation will lead the two women to meet different needs: the Maid will pretend to have no milk to give her baby to the mistress's breast who wants nothing more than a child. This will lead her to a social climb within the dynamics of the home. The deception, however, will soon be revealed, just as the wishes and the will come to light need of both women. In the end, what we don't have will always win: for the mistress, a child, for the maid a more comfortable life.
