Producer Sam Katzman only had $2500 of the film's $9600 budget available. The rest was deferred. Star John Wayne was paid only $150 per week.
The official cast lists the butler's name as "Jenkins," but John Wayne's Dick character calls him " Diggs."
This marked Sam Katzman's first film as a producer, launching a producing career of almost 40 years and well over 200 films.
Despite the casting of John Wayne and Al "Fuzzy" St. John, this is NOT a western.
